About WestScript
A writing community for people who build software.
WestScript is a writing community for developers. It is where people post the things they figured out: a tutorial with every step, a build log from a side project, the write-up of a bug that took far too long to find. Reading is free and open to everyone; writing is by invitation.
How it fits together
- Profiles are blogs. Each writer has a profile at their own address with a bio, a pinned introduction, categories and every post they have published.
- Tags connect writers. Posts carry tags like
#javascriptor#devops, and each tag has a page that gathers posts on that subject from everyone. - Replies are reviewed. Anyone can reply with just a name. A moderator reads each guest reply before it appears.
Why it looks like this
Developer posts have their own needs: code that keeps its indentation, sections you can jump between, and text that renders accents correctly in Vietnamese and other languages. WestScript handles those details so writers can focus on the explanation.
Following writers
There are no follower counts here. The Follow button on a profile is that writer’s RSS feed, and the whole site has one at /feed.xml. Use any feed reader you like.
Writing here
Writer accounts are by invitation, so there is no sign-up form. If you would like to write on WestScript, tell us about it on the contact page. The team also keeps a journal of its own at Build notes.
